Professor Jaime Osorio studied the Bachelor of Sociology from the School of Sociology at the University of Chile and has doctoral studies in Social Sciences at the Sociological Studies Center of the College of Mexico.
He was named Distinguished Professor of Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) in 2015; Named Emeritus Researcher by the National System of Researchers (SNI) of CONACYT in 2022.

With theoretical contributions for the study of dependent capitalism, developing concepts about "forms of capitalism"; Pattern of reproduction of capital; super-exploitation; uneven exchange, Development of the concept of dependent state, sub-sovereign state, particularities of political power, and the exercise of political power independent capitalism. Particularities of the class struggle in independent capitalism. Criticism of the knowledge of capitalist modernity and prevailing disciplinary understanding. Formulation of an epistemological perspective for knowledge that transcends the disciplinary perspective
