Professor Abigail Martínez Mendoza is a Research Professor in Public Policy at the Lerma Campus of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM). She holds a Ph.D. in Social Studies in the line of Political Processes from the Iztapalapa Campus at UAM and a Master of Science in the methodology of science. She is the first psychologist of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN).

She is a member of the National System of Researchers of CONCACYT, received the University Merit Medal from the UAM in 2014, and has the "Recognition of Desirable Profile" from the SEP. She is part of the Coordinating Group of the Water Research Network of the UAM (AgUAM Network). She is responsible for the research project "Public policies and territorial perspective: characterization of the hydro-social cycle in the area comprised by the Lerma River sub-basin." She coordinates the alliance between Habitat for Humanity and the AgUAM Network.

She is a professor and researcher in the Department of Social Processes of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities at UAM Lerma Campus.

She is a consultant for the diagnosis and evaluation of the impact of social policies for institutions such as CONALEP, SEDESOL, Secretary of Culture, and municipalities in the states of Mexico, Oaxaca, and Guerrero, and delegations of Mexico City. Evaluator for INDESOL, IMJUVE, ANUIES, CONACYT. Advisor for the Anahuac University of Oaxaca and the Technological University of Tabasco. Research topics: Public policies and social aspects, their interaction with the development of marginalized populations; Land use planning policies and their impact on social development; Citizenship and participation of groups in rural poverty, and Design and adaptation of methodologies to work with marginalized populations.
