Profile
Professor Adrian Guzmán Sánchez is Veterinary and Zootechnician by the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana-Xochimilco and a Doctor in Science by the Facultad de Medicina Veterinaria y Zootecnia de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
He is level I in the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores e Investigador and has carried out research stays at the Instituto Tecnológico de Costa in Costa Rica, at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in the United States and at the Recherche en Reproduction et Fertilité in the University of Montreal in Canada.
He is specialist in Animal Physiology, in particular Reproductive Physiology, and his investigation is focused on the cellular and molecular mechanisms that control follicular development and corpus luteum function with special interest in the role of the Vascular Endothelial Growth factor (VEGF) system, Sphingosine-1-Phosphate (S1P) and Liver Receptor Homologus-1 (LRH-1) in these processes.
Another line of research developed by Dr. Guzmán is the manipulation of the estrous cycle and follicular dynamics in cattle as a strategy to address the reproductive problems tin dairy and beef cows.
