Profile
Professor Abel García Nájera is an Electronics Engineer from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa Campus, Master in Computer Science from the Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior de Ensenada, and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Birmingham, UK. From 2011 to 2013, he did a postdoctoral stay in the Area of Optimization and Artificial Intelligence of the Department of Electrical Engineering at UAM Iztapalapa Campus. Since 2013 he has been a Professor and Researcher attached to the Department of Applied Mathematics and Systems at UAM Cuajimalpa Campus.
In teaching, he supports the Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering and the Bachelor's Degree in Applied Mathematics offered by UAM Cuajimalpa Campus, as well as the Graduate Program in Natural Sciences and Engineering of the same institution, of which he is the current Coordinator of Studies. His research lines encompass the intersection of multi-objective combinatorial optimization and nature-inspired metaheuristics, which has applications in the design of vehicular routes, software engineering, influence analysis, and detection of communities in social networks, and in the optimization of investment portfolios.
He is part of the Academic Group "Computational Intelligence", which has a degree of consolidation In Formation and for which he is responsible. He has contributed in the two lines of generation or innovative application of knowledge that are cultivated in this Academic Body: Applications of computational intelligence and Algorithm design.
He is currently Level I of the National System of Researchers and has the appointment of Desirable Profile of the Program for the Professional Development of Teachers.
