Dr. Adrián Hernández Cordero holds a Bachelor's degree in Human Geography from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, a Master's degree in Regional Studies from the Instituto de Investigaciones Dr. José María Luis Mora, and a Ph.D. in Geography from the Department of Geography at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He serves as a Full-Time Senior Professor (Titular C) at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana. In university administration and institutional governance, he served as Head of the Department of Sociology for the 2022–2026 term and represented his department's faculty on the Divisional Council. He has been a member of Mexico's National System of Researchers (SNII) since 2016.

In his current institutional leadership and research projects, he serves on the Academic Committee responsible for drafting the Ethical Guidelines for the Use of Artificial Intelligence at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana. Furthermore, he coordinates the Mexico Node of the NOMADIC Project (Nomad Movements and Digital Impacts in Cities), an international research initiative funded by the European Union through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. His international research trajectory includes visiting research stays at the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the Autonomous University of Madrid and the Department of Human Geography at the University of Seville.

He received the Best Doctoral Dissertation Award in the International Research Thesis Competition on Historic Centers, presented by UNAM's University Program for Urban Studies (PUEC-UNAM), the 'Historic Centers of Mexican Cities' Thematic Network, and INAH's National Coordination of Historic Monuments. Additionally, he was awarded the Research Diploma and the University Merit Medal by the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana. In the public sector, he served as an advisor to the Head of the Mexico City Social Attorney's Office (Procuraduría Social) and as an advisor to the Mayor of the Borough of Iztapalapa.
