1.- Oral health in vulnerable groups.
2.- Pathology and oral medicine.
Description
1.- The oral health of individuals and populations, especially children, adolescents and the elderly is the result of a complex dynamic that is little addressed, since it is determined by a series of factors intrinsic to the host and extrinsic to it and conditioned by social and economic determinants, which are expressed in the health-disease process; therefore, research should focus on the recognition, identification, evolution and determination of these factors in order to generate models of care that allow the prevention and comprehensive treatment of the alterations investigated in these g...

1.- The oral health of individuals and populations, especially children, adolescents and the elderly is the result of a complex dynamic that is little addressed, since it is determined by a series of factors intrinsic to the host and extrinsic to it and conditioned by social and economic determinants, which are expressed in the health-disease process; therefore, research should focus on the recognition, identification, evolution and determination of these factors in order to generate models of care that allow the prevention and comprehensive treatment of the alterations investigated in these groups. The most prevalent oral diseases are studied, such as dental caries, periodontal disease, malocclusion, dental fluorosis, among others. The identification of risk factors should be considered fundamental for the understanding and prevention of oral health and the application in vulnerable groups of the population.
2.- Oral pathology and oral medicine are branches of stomatology that involve processes and effects of diseases of the oral and maxillofacial region and identify the causes and establish the clinical manifestations and the stomatological management required by the patient systematically compromised. Chronic degenerative diseases of the oral and maxillofacial region, various benign and malignant neoplasms, basic microbiological, immunological and biochemical research, applying molecular biology techniques are studied. The clinical-pathological, immunohistochemical and ultrastructural characterization of lesions, their relationship with different risk factors, systemic pathology and nutritional aspects, as well as the prevalence of these entities in different populations, including the most vulnerable groups, are studied.
