Professor Teresa Leonor Sánchez Pérez is a doctor in dentistry from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). She is a dental surgeon, a specialist in public health, and has a master's in dental science.

She has the Medal José Vasconcelos (UNAM), Research Award for the Mexican Health Foundation 1988. First and second national place in research in dentistry by the National Research Commission in Dentistry on more than 15 occasions. "Dr. James A. Cottone Award for Investigative Research " 2004.
