El Doctor Luis Manuel Amezcua Guerra hizo su Licenciatura en Medicina General en la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) dentro del Programa de Alta Exigencia Académica (PAEA) o Núcleos de Calidad Educativa (NUCE). Realizó un Internado médico de pregrado en el Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y de la Nutrición Salvador Zubirán (INCMNSZ).

Hizo una Especialidad en Medicina Interna en el Hospital Regional 1 de Octubre del Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado (ISSSTE). Jefe de Residentes de Medicina Interna. Subespecialidad en Reumatología en el Instituto Nacional de Cardiología Ignacio Chávez (INCICh). Jefe de Residentes de Reumatología.

Estudió el Doctorado en Ciencias Biológicas y de la Salud en la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana y recibió la Medalla al Mérito Universitario.

Es Investigador en Ciencias Médicas del departamento de Inmunología del Instituto Nacional de Cardiología Ignacio Chávez (INCICh) y Coordinador de la Unidad de Investigación en Medicina Traslacional UNAM-INCICh. Jefe del departamento de Inmunología del Instituto Nacional de Cardiología Ignacio Chávez (INCICh).

Profesor e Investigador del departamento de Atención de la Salud de la Unidad Xochimilco de la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana.
