Dra. Karina Ochoa Muñoz was born in Mexico City (1975). She is a Sociologist, Master and PhD in Rural Development from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana. She is currently a Professor-Researcher "C" at the Azcapotzalco Campus of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Department of Sociology, Division of Social Sciences and Humanities.
 
She is part of the teaching staff in the Doctorate in Feminist Studies of the Xochimilco Campus of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Division of Social and Humanities. She is a member of the National System of Researchers level II and one of the main exponents of the decolonial Feminisms of Abya Yala. She is co-founder and member of the "Feminism Network/s Culture and Power. Dialogues from the South", a member of the Decolonial International Network (DIN) and the collective "La Guillotina". She coordinates the Academic Body: "Transculturality in corporeal, territorial and visual culture zones” and the Rural Sociology Research Group.
 
She has collaborated with various rural organizations in Mexico, as well as with feminist organizations and collectives in Latin America.
