Profile

Professor Leticia Ortega Almanza has a degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Biological Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH) and a Master of Science from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Xochimilco Campus Postgraduate studies: Application of National and International Standards in Documentation Systems for the Pharmaceutical Industry. Tools for Industrial Administration.

She has experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry for more than ten years in companies such as: Lakeside Pharmaceutical Laboratories, Boheringer Ingelheim Pharmaceutical Laboratory PROMECO, Pharmaceutical Laboratory Corporation CASMAR, Bayer Laboratories of Mexico. Working mainly in the area of Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Documentation.

She has been a thesis advisor and exam synodal in the Faculty of Chemistry at UAEM Mex. Coordinator of the QFBT Career at UVM Campus Toluca. She is a Professor at the Xochimilco Campus. She joined UAM in 2011. She has been advisor and tutor of Bachelor and Master students at the Xochimilco Campus. Responsible for the Solid Pharmaceutical Forms Plant of the UIDIS at the Xochimilco Campus. Expert of the General Methods Committee of the United Mexican States Pharmacopoeia. Responsible for the Research Project: "Design and evaluation of pharmaceutical raw materials used in the manufacture of tablets".

Participant in the Research Project: Development and preclinical evaluation of hypoglycemic drugs enriched with antioxidants for the treatment of type II diabetes mellitus. Participant and organizer in National and International Congresses for dissemination of works of the research projects as sample: "Rheological behavior of powders for pharmaceutical use for preformulation studies, "Formulation and dissolution of liquisolid tablets of glibenclamide", "Preformulation for obtaining hypoglycemic tablets in combination with natural antioxidants, "Application of the design of experiments for preformulation studies in solids", "Development and validation of dissolution methods for metformin tablets with natural antioxidants", "Nanoparticles (SLN) containing terbinafine for topical use", "Antifungal gel containing nanoparticles", "Synthesis of nanoparticles for pharmaceutical application", "Obtaining a turmeric co-processed to improve functional properties without decreasing antioxidant capacity", "Comparative study of the physical characteristics of two creams elaborated by cold emulsification", "Optimization of a formulation of extended release tablets of diclofenac sodium".

She has published in national and international journals of Pharmaceutical Technology articles. "Effect of Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) on the release of an ionic drug", "Effect of surfactant to co-surfactant ratio on the formation of solid lipid nanoparticles", "Development of Co-processed Paracetamol with Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) and Maltodextrin by Wet Granulation Process".

Publication of two books as main author and others in collaboration: "Tecnología de formas farmacéuticas sólidas", "Criterios básicos de un sistema de gestión de la calidad para la industria farmacéutica en México", "Manual de prácticas de las unidades de enseñanza aprendizaje relacionadas con la obtención, evaluación y obtención de medicamentos". The books he has published serve for module VIII and XII either as a reference book or as a textbook. They are published with the support of the Xochimilco Campus of the UAM.
