Dr. Caridad García Hernández completed her undergraduate studies in Journalism and Mass Communication at FES Acatlán of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She earned a Master’s degree in Communication from Universidad Iberoamericana, Santa Fe campus, and a Ph.D. in Political and Social Sciences, with a specialization in Communication, from the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences at UNAM.

She is a founding Research Professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Cuajimalpa Campus, in the Department of Communication Sciences. She coordinates and is a member of the Educational Communication Research Group.

She has participated in research projects such as:

• García, C., Espinosa, M., and González, N. (2021–2024). Information and Communication Technologies in Educational Environments.

She currently coordinates the project:
• García, C., Espinosa, M., and González, N. (2024–2027). Education, Communication, and Culture: A Study of the University, Its Processes, and Educational Actors from a Future-Oriented Perspective, part of the Educational Communication Research Group (Caridad García, coordinator), in collaboration with Professors Noé Abraham González, Luis Antonio Rivera, Tiburcio Moreno, Jesús Elizondo, and Raúl Roydeen García.

Her research aims to contribute to the field of educational communication, particularly in higher education. Her lines of inquiry address technologies applied to education, media literacy, educommunication, and the sociology of education.

Methodologically, she is interested in horizontal approaches and seeks to innovate in research techniques aligned with this perspective. She also conducts research using mixed methodologies.

As a founding professor of the Cuajimalpa Campus of UAM, she has held several academic administrative positions, including Coordinator of Undergraduate Studies in Communication Sciences; Coordinator of the Master’s Program in Design, Information, and Communication; Academic Secretary of the Division of Communication Sciences; Acting Head of the Department of Communication Sciences; and Secretary of the Cuajimalpa Campus.

Her experience in academic administration has enabled her to critically analyze the political and administrative challenges surrounding university education, issues she has incorporated into her research.

She is the author of more than 80 research articles, has coordinated five collective books, and has delivered over 90 conference papers and presentations at academic meetings. She has supervised 43 undergraduate and graduate capstone projects and final research reports and has collaborated in thesis advising at institutions such as UNAM, Tecnológico de Monterrey, and Universidad Iberoamericana.

She currently coordinates a group of faculty members from the Cuajimalpa and Iztapalapa Campuses of UAM in a program sponsored by the Rectoría General for the development of Digital Learning Products. She has also designed instructional materials and courses for virtual and hybrid education modalities.
