Profile

Professor Carlos Juan Núñez Rodríguez holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Philosophy from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), a Master's degree in Historiography and a Ph.D. in Organizational Studies from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Humanities Coordination at the Centro de Investigaciones sobre América Latina y el Caribe UNAM.

He is a Professor in the Department of Administration at the Azcapotzalco Campus of the UAM. Research Area: State, Government, and Public Policy. Member of the Basic Nucleus of the Postgraduate Program in Organizational Studies of the Iztapalapa Campus of the UAM. Member of the National System of Researchers, Level I, with a desirable profile PRODEP.

The theme that he has developed in the last decade is a Genealogy of the State from Latin America, which he created from the Philosophy of Liberation, Decolonial Studies, Biopower, Political Ecology, Ethics of the Common Good, Genocide studies; which has allowed me to develop and support the concept and perspective of Necropower.

Necropower starts from the perspective that modernity, capitalism, patriarchy, ecocide, ethnophagy, epistemicide, and the denial of otherness lead inexorably to different states of exception and different genocidal processes that would be the nomos of modernity itself. From the analysis of various authors and historical, political, economic, social, and ecological processes, it can be argued that the modern State has been perfecting its technologies of power to produce, dominate, enclose, exclude, make live, make die, let live, let die and exterminate social sectors and entire populations.

The above has been shown in different author's books (in total, seven, so far); in the first volume of Genealogy of the State from Latin America (2016) the long-lasting genocide, ethnophagy, the relationship of the Latin American State with the native peoples are addressed; in the second volume (2018) the concept of economic and social genocide, the coup d'état and the state of legal and economic exception are addressed; in the third volume (2020) the production of the subjectivities of homo demens. They are preceded by a book on the political philosophy of Michel Foucault (2010) where it is shown that the concept of biopower is central to the analysis of the functioning of the State at the microphysical and macrophysical level, disciplinary power, sovereign power, biopolitics, governmentality and security technology, among others; a book of critique to the ethics of business (2008) where the ethics of liberation and the ethics of the common good are discussed with the theoretical positions more functional to capital who attribute a social responsibility to the private business world as then raised by Adela Cortina and the ETNOR group, they from the ethics of discourse; a couple of books on the EZLN (2007 and 2012) where the Zapatista myths and narratives are analyzed as a form of identity construction, of political legitimization, as well as different political moments that lead to negotiations with the Mexican State and the betrayals of the latter are analyzed, this happens on several occasions: From the famous betrayal of February 9, 1995, the 1997 betrayal when the San Andres Accords and the Cocopa Law were not fulfilled, and the 2001 betrayal with the approval of a constitutional reform on indigenous issues different from the San Andres Accords and the Cocopa Law.

All of these topics and others have been developed in different book chapters and articles in specialized magazines. In order to carry out the different investigations, different authors of philosophy, economics, anthropology, sociology, history, communication, and administration have been reviewed.
