Profile
Professor Mikhail Tkatchenko received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Moscow State University, USSR, in 1981. He worked as a Professor in various institutions of higher education in the USSR. In 1993 he obtained an endowed professorship from CONACyT in Mexico, and since then, he has been working at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa Campus as a Professor of the Mathematics Department.
Since 1998 he has been a member of SNI, Level III. He has published two scientific books and about 193 research articles in international journals with a strict arbitration process. He has prepared six PhDs and four masters in Mathematics. Several others are about to graduate.
He has presented about 50 invited papers (plenary or semi-plenary) in national or international Topology congresses.
He made about 25 research stays in Australia, Brazil, China, Spain, Japan, Israel, Poland, and the Czech Republic.
He held several administrative positions at UAM, He served as a member of the Examining Committee in the years 1996-1997 and 1998-1999. He was the Graduate Coordinator of the Mathematics Department of the Iztapalapa Campus from June 2001 to March 2003. He served as Head of the Topology Area of the Department of Mathematics at Iztapalapa Campus from February 2004 to December 31, 2007 and from October 1, 2019 to the present.
