Professor Arturo Grunstein Dickter holds a B.A. in General History from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, an M.A. in Latin American History from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, and a Ph.D. in Latin American History from the University of California at Los Angeles.
He was a researcher at the Dr. José Ma. Luis Mora Research Institute from 1989-1991. He joined the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus in 1994 as Professor. Between 1996 and 1999 he worked as a researcher at the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económica (CIDE). He rejoined UAM Azcapotzalco Campus in 2000. He is Head of the Sociological Analysis of History Area. He was Divisional Research Coordinator between 2002 and 2006 and Coordinator of the Master and Ph.D. in Sociology between 2007 and 2014.
His research lines are Railway History, Comparative Historical Sociology, Comparative History of the elites in Mexico and Latin America, History of the United States, and Intellectual History of Latin American Sociology.
Research project(s): "From the socialism of the Mexican revolution to national unity: continuity and change in the ideology and praxis of the revolutionary political elite, c. 1936-1946" (Registration No. 788) and "The dispute over the National Railways of Mexico. Del gobierno accionista al Estado propietario, c. 1908-1938" (Registration No. 958).
