Profile
Professor Jesús Daniel Grande Cano studied Agricultural Engineering, specializing in Animal Science, at the Superior College of Tropical Agriculture (CSAT) of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Hydraulic Resources (SARH) in Cárdenas, Tabasco, with a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM).
He was Head of Unit No. 2 (Totutla) of the Agricultural and Forestry Seasonal District No. 6 SARH in Huatusco, Mexico. 6 SARH in Huatusco, Veracruz, Professor and Researcher in the Departments of Field Practices and Animal Nutrition at CSAT, Associate Researcher in the Department of Animal Nutrition of the Division of Experimental Nutrition and Research Food Science of the National Institute of Nutrition "Salvador Zubirán" (currently National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition "Salvador Zubirán"), Professor of Assignment in the Department of Nutrition and Food Science of the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, Professor at the School of Dietetics and Nutrition of the Subdirección General Médica del ISSSTE in Mexico City, and is currently Professor at the Division of Biological and Health Sciences of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa Campus in Mexico City, where he collaborates in the Research Area of Agricultural Production Systems of the Department of Reproductive Biology of the UAM Iztapalapa Campus and professor of the Animal Production Degree.
He has mainly taught undergraduate courses on university fieldwork, animal and human feeding and nutrition, food production, essential crops, pasture management, agroecology, agroforestry, agricultural sustainability, integrated agricultural production systems, ecotechnologies in agricultural production systems, agricultural practice, and agrosocial practice.
He has taught more than 200 courses in national public institutions of higher education. He has participated as a speaker in more than 200 congresses, symposiums, and national and international colloquiums. He has written more than 40 scientific articles in national and international publications, nine popular articles, participated in more than 15 book chapters and published two books, has directed more than 15 undergraduate and graduate theses, and advised more than 30 Social Service projects.
He is currently working on research-development projects related to agricultural and livestock agroforestry, agroecology, agricultural sustainability, organic livestock, organic food production from the perspective of agroecology, urban and peri-urban agriculture, and issues related to responsible food consumption and sustainable food systems. In teaching, he has recently ventured into the field of environmental curricula.
