Profile
Doctor Ana Laura Ibañez is a full time professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Iztapalapa Campus, in the Department of Hydrobiology. With more than 28 years of experience in fish biology, she has covered aspects of morphometric analysis.
Besides her academic work, she was the Coordinator of the Master's Program in Biology offered by her institution. After her postdoctoral project at Hull International Fisheries Institute, U.K., she works with fish scale shape analysis for stock recognition and population genetics.
Also has experience in aquaculture-based fisheries. She has graduated 17 undergraduate students, 6 master's, and two doctoral students. To date, she has 70 peer-reviewed publications, two research books, and three teaching books. He has collaborated on the Conacyt evaluation committees and around 40 graduate student committees. She has conducted at least 100 reviews for international journals and is currently SNI II.
Target species are:
Mugilidae in saltwater: Mugil cephalus and M. curema;
Tilapia in freshwater: Oreochromis aureus and O. niloticus.
