Profile
Doctor Araceli Tomasini Campocosio has been a Professor and researcher at Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa Campus since 1985. She has been a SNI level II national researcher since 2005. She studied a degree in Industrial Biochemical Engineering at UAM Iztapalapa Campus and a Ph.D. in Enzymatic Engineering and Bioconversion at the
The Technological University of Compiégne, France.
Her research has been on secondary metabolite and aroma production and the removal of toxic compounds by filamentous fungi. This last topic has been developed and researched for more than twenty years. She has conducted studies in physiology, biochemistry, sorption, and some molecular biology, in order to know and understand the response of fungi to the presence of toxic compounds and the mechanisms used by fungi for their removal.
She has graduated three undergraduate students, four graduate students, 12 master's students, and six doctoral students. She has advised about 20 social services. She has written 13 book chapters and is the editor of a book on fungal remediation.
She has 44 publications in international indexed journals and eight in national journals, with more than 520 citations (without self-citations). She has two patents and 55 papers in National Congresses and 31 in International Congresses. Recognition awarded by the Journal of Microbilogical Methods, Elsevier for the evaluations performed, 2019.
She has a National Award granted by the Academy of Sciences of Cuba, on July 15, 2011 to the work Las Levaduras y sus productos derivados como ingredientes en la industria de alimentos Editors: Jorge R. Wagner, Miguel A. Otero Rambla and Isabel Guerrero Legarreta. National University of Quilmes. Chap. 10, 181-193. Recognition granted by the Revista Información Tecnológica as "Outstanding Evaluations of 2003" Research Award 1992 in the Area of Biological and Health Sciences granted by the UAM Iztapalapa Campus, with the work "Environmental and Nutritional Factors Controlling Aflatoxin Production in Cassava Solid State Fermentation".
