Profile

Professor Saúl Alcántara Onofre is an Architect by the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus, he is a Specialist in "Restoration of Monuments and Historic Centers", ERMCH, Florence, Italy. 33rd Course: "History of Architecture. The architecture of Andrea Palladio", CIEA "A. Palladio", Vicenza, Italy. Master in "Landscape Architecture", University of Studies of Genoa, Italy. Ph.D. in Design, UAM Azcapotzalco Campus. Workshop: "Integrated Conservation of Territories & Landscapes of Heritage Value", World Heritage Center UNESCO and ICCROM, Rome, Italy. Workshop: "Bridging the metropolitan gaps & Shaping the metropolitan discipline", Singapore University of Technology and Design; Special Program for Urban and Regional Studies and held at the Department of Urban Studies and Planning of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA.

From 1985 to the present, he has been Professor, and has worked as Head of the Department of Environment for Design, CYAD Division, UAM Azcapotzalco Campus.

He has participated in more than 40 restoration projects of cultural landscapes and historical monuments, among them: "Ethnobotanical Garden of the Santo Domingo Cultural Center"; INAH; BANAMEX Cultural Fund; Oaxaca, Oaxaca. "Recovery of the historic gardens of Chapultepec Castle: Alcazar and Winter"; UAM Azcapotzalco Campus, National Museum of History, INAH, Mexico City. "Landscape and Gardens of the Labyrinth of Science Museum", Legorreta, Legorreta, Government of the State of San Luis Potosí, San Luis Potosí. "Museo arqueológico de las Yacatas", Tzintzuntzan, Michoacán, Centro Comunitario Tzintzunztan, INAH.

He has published more than 150 articles in Mexico and abroad, among them: "I Giardini Storici, Indrizzi Teorici ed Esperienze di Restauro", and "Restauro dei Giardini del Palazzo di Het Loo nei Paessi Bassi", Revista "RECUPERARE" N° 1/94; Milan, Italy, p. 30-37.
