Professor Ileana Nuri Flores Abreu holds a Ph.D. in Cognition with specialization in Psychology and Neurosciences, a Master's degree in Evolutionary Ecology (UNAM), and a Bachelor's degree in Biology (UNAM). She has pursued various lines of research throughout her career.

Currently, her areas of interest include food systems, transdisciplinarity, and relational values. Previously, she has focused on studying the development of the central nervous system, the coevolution of the agave genus and its pollinating bats, the evolution of nectarivory, and spatial and acoustic learning in free-living organisms.

Her scientific production has been notable, with articles published in journals such as Animal Cognition, Animal Behavior, Proceeding of the Royal Society- B, and The International Journal of Justice and Sustainability. Additionally, she has participated in numerous presentations at national and international conferences.

In the realm of teaching, as a Researcher for Mexico (2021) affiliated with the Bachelor's program in Socioterritorial Studies in the Department of Social Sciences, she has taught courses such as Sustainability Seminar, Globalization Seminar, Science and Society Seminar, Seminar on Great Scientific Paradigms, Environmental Management Instruments: Governance and Governance, and Discourse and Political Action.

She has also advised several undergraduate terminal projects for students who have not yet completed their degrees. In terms of her managerial duties, she is currently part of the Cities in Transition Laboratory at the Cuajimalpa Campus of the UAM and the academic committee of the Permanent Seminar on Food, along with other academics from UNAM.

Previously, she served as the academic coordinator of Xochimilco in Cocina Colaboratorio, a project of the IIIES_UNAM on the transition of the food system in three highly contrasting communities. Although she no longer holds that position, she continues to collaborate on the project, which has transitioned into a PRONACE.
