Semblanza

La Doctora María Del Rosario Cárdenas Elizalde es Médica Cirujana por la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Maestra en Demografía por El Colegio de México y Doctora en Estudios de Población y Salud Internacional por la Universidad de Harvard. Cuenta con una estancia Posdoctoral en Políticas de Salud en el Institute for Health Policy Studies de la Universidad de California en San Francisco, un Diplomado en Derecho a la no discriminación por el Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México y uno en Derechos Humanos y su medición a través de indicadores por el Programa Universitario de Derechos Humanos de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.

Actualmente es presidente del Consejo Consultivo Ciudadano para la Política de Población. Participa como invitada permanente en dos instancias colegiadas de consulta para la toma de decisiones acerca de la producción de información estadística: Comité Técnico Especializado de Población y Dinámica Demográfica (Consejo Nacional de Población e INEGI) y en el Comité Técnico Especializado Sectorial en Salud (Secretaría de Salud e INEGI).

A la fecha se desempeña como profesora e investigadora de tiempo completo en la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Unidad Xochimilco.

Su interés de investigación está centrado en el análisis de las condiciones de vida de la población, las desigualdades sociales, el cumplimiento de los derechos y el monitoreo y evaluación de las políticas públicas.

Sus publicaciones abordan, entre otros temas, transformaciones demográficas y su medición, caracterización de las condiciones de vida, determinantes de los procesos sociodemográficos, desigualdad social, estimaciones globales de los fenómenos que impactan la dinámica poblacional, evaluación de políticas públicas.

Miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores, ex presidente de la Sociedad Mexicana de Demografía y Consejera Académica del Consejo Nacional de Evaluación de la Política de Desarrollo Social.
