Profile
Dr. Enrique Contreras Montiel served as a professor and researcher at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), Xochimilco Campus, with more than 40 years of experience.
His research areas covered social policy, economic growth and development, microeconomics, and the structure and dynamics of the economy in relation to fiscal policy performance, as well as urban economics and the environment.
In his professional career, he worked in advisory and consulting roles in the social and environmental sectors of the federal public administration, collaborating with institutions such as INDESOL, SEDESOL, DIF, IMSS, SEMARNAT, and CONANP, as well as with several state governments across Mexico, including Veracruz, Hidalgo, Aguascalientes, Colima, Oaxaca, the State of Mexico, Mexico City, and Morelos.
He conducted regional studies on development and territorial, urban, and environmental planning, and he contributed to the design of development programs and plans at different levels of public administration.
Professor Contreras published more than 25 peer-reviewed articles in specialized journals, participated in more than 30 academic conferences and colloquia, authored more than half a dozen outreach books, and wrote nearly one thousand journalistic articles published in national newspapers. He also participated in more than 35 national and international conferences and colloquia.
