In memoriam
Dr. Eduardo Pérez Cisneros was a professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Iztapalapa Campus, in Mexico City. His academic and scientific career was widely recognized both nationally and internationally in the field of chemical engineering.
He earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (1979–1984), a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (1989–1991), and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark (1994–1997). Throughout his career, Dr. Pérez-Cisneros maintained a consistent scientific output, publishing over 75 articles in peer-reviewed international journals, three book chapters, and more than 150 papers presented at national and international conferences.
He was the principal investigator in four research projects funded by the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), and supervised 10 graduate theses (4 doctoral and 6 master’s) as well as 29 undergraduate projects. His work primarily focused on process design, energy integration, and the modeling and simulation of reactive separation processes, with an emphasis on the production of ultra-clean fuels from mineral oils and biomass.
Dr. Eduardo Pérez-Cisneros was a member of the Mexican National System of Researchers (SNI) since 1998. He held various academic and administrative positions, notably serving as Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering (2004–2008) and as Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Energy and Environmental Sciences at UAM’s Iztapalapa campus. He also served as President of the Mexican Academy of Teaching and Research in Chemical Engineering (AMIDIQ) from 2007 to 2009.
