Dr. Eduardo Basurto Salazar was originally from Tijuana, Baja California. He completed a degree in Architecture at the Autonomous University of Baja California, Mexicali Campus (1969–1974), a master’s degree at the Development Planning Unit of University College London (1976–1978), and a doctorate at the Faculty of Architecture of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (2000–2006).
Beginning in 1985, at the Autonomous Metropolitan University, Xochimilco Campus, he devoted himself to teaching and research in architecture, as well as to the evaluation and design of academic programs in this discipline at more than ten universities in the country.
Beginning in 1974, he developed professional practice mainly in Baja California and Mexico City. Among his most recent works is a residence built in adobe in Tepoztlán, Morelos, completed in 2015.
He published various articles on architecture, microurbanism, and architectural education. Among his books, Las esquinas, lugar y habitabilidad (2019) stands out. In UAM’s Division of Sciences and Arts for Design, he served as Head of the Housing and Environment Area, Coordinator of the Architecture Program (2007–2011), and Head of the Department of Methods and Systems (2017–2020).
