Profile
Dr. Eduardo Peñalosa holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Psychology and earned a Ph.D. in Educational and Developmental Psychology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He authored books and scholarly articles in the fields of cognition, complex learning, and technology-mediated education. He was recognized as a National Researcher by Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNI), among other honors awarded for his research contributions.
He carried out consulting and research in evaluation, curriculum development, and instructional design. He coordinated the research line “Educational Communication in Open and Distance Learning Systems”. He was a member of the research groups “Computational Creativity” at the Department of Communication Sciences at the Cuajimalpa Campus of UAM and “Assessment and Promotion of Cognitive Development and Complex Learning” in the graduate program of the UNAM Faculty of Psychology.
He served as Rector of the Cuajimalpa Campus and later as General Rector of our university.
He taught courses in his areas of expertise at institutions such as UNAM, UAM, and ITESM, among others. He was a founding member, faculty member, and head of the Open and Distance Psychology Program at FES Iztacala – UNAM. He also taught in Master’s programs at UNAM, IPN, UAM, and the Autonomous University of Chiapas. He participated in doctoral committees at the UNAM Faculty of Psychology, ITESO, Universidad Iberoamericana, and Universidad Anáhuac, focusing on topics in education, learning, and cognition.
He contributed to the development of academic programs at the Faculty of Higher Studies (FES) Iztacala of UNAM; the undergraduate program in Communication Sciences at the Cuajimalpa Campus of UAM; the curriculum reform for teacher training colleges (Normales); the specialization in Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences at the UNAM Faculty of Psychology; and the curricular reform of the National Preparatory School of UNAM.
