Dr. Carlos Ornelas was a professor of Education and Communication at UAM’s Xochimilco Campus. He earned his Doctorate in Education from Stanford University in 1980.
He published books such as Educational Policy in Latin America (2020) and The Struggle for Education (2018). He authored seven individual books, coordinated 13 collective works, and published numerous peer-reviewed articles and essays.
He was a visiting professor at Harvard, Columbia, Hiroshima, Nagoya, and other institutions. He was an active member of academic associations and editorial committees.
He received awards such as the COMIE Recognition for Merit “Pablo Latapí” (2015) and the Citizen Merit Award “José Vasconcelos” (2017).
