In memoriam
Professor José Francisco Piñón Gaytán held a PhD in Social Sciences (specializing in political philosophy) from the University of St. Thomas in Rome, and a bachelor's degree in philosophy from both the Gregorian University in Rome and Montezuma College in the United States.
He served as a full-time professor in the Department of Philosophy at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Iztapalapa campus, as well as a professor of political philosophy at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
He was a founding member of the Antonio Gramsci Center for Social Studies. Among his most notable publications are Ética y modernidad en la era de la tecnociencia, La Modernidad de Gramsci: Política y Humanismo, Con las manos vacías, y Ética y modernidad en la época de la tecno-ciencia.
