Dr. Jorge Clouthier López holds a Master's degree in Earth Sciences with a concentration in Atmospheric Sciences and Physical Oceanography from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), alongside a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Computer Research Center (CIC) at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN). During his doctoral research, he solved a physical problem regarding ocean-atmosphere interaction and its impact on convective activity over the Mexican continental territory through supercomputing experiments and onboard oceanographic campaigns. He serves as a Professor-Researcher at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Iztapalapa and holds Candidate Researcher status in Mexico's Sistema Nacional de Investigadoras e Investigadores (SNII).
His teaching background includes serving as a lecturer and tutor at UNAM's Faculty of Sciences (FC) in the Physics and Earth Sciences undergraduate programs, as well as teaching at UNAM's National School of Earth Sciences (ENCiT). At UAM Iztapalapa, he teaches specialized courses including Mesoscale Meteorology, Numerical Weather Prediction Methods I and II, Cloud Physics, Spatial Data Analysis, and Partial Differential Equations and Special Functions, alongside supervising capstone and social service projects. His current research lines focus on two projects examining the impact of tropical cyclones on atmospheric activity over the Mexican continental territory.
