Profile

Dr. Ricardo Chávez García (PhD) earned his DVM degree, MSc in Agricultural Sciences, and PhD in Agricultural Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Xochimilco Campus. During his doctoral training, he achieved the highest GPA in his cohort and was awarded the Academic Merit Medal in recognition of his outstanding academic performance. He subsequently completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the same institution.

He currently serves as Visiting Professor (Titular B) in the Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics program at UAM Xochimilco, where he teaches in the Systemic and Toxicological Diseases Clinic module, contributing to the clinical and toxicological training of veterinary students. He also collaborates as faculty in the Medication Prescription and Immunization Protocols module (2023–present) and has been a member of the Teaching Support Group (GAD) since 2024.

Dr. Chávez García has actively strengthened hands-on veterinary training through the organization of academic initiatives, including the Simulation Models Competition for Clinical and Surgical Veterinary Practice, aimed at developing safe and effective clinical and surgical skills in students.

In his teaching role, he provides academic mentoring to undergraduate students through advisement and supervision of social service activities, fostering their professional development and strengthening clinical and scientific competencies.

His research focuses on neuroendocrinology, cellular and neuronal differentiation, and sexual dimorphism using murine and fish models. He has published peer-reviewed articles in international journals and has served as a reviewer for journals such as Neuroscience Letters and Toxicology Reports.

He is also actively involved in graduate education as a member of advisory committees and as a graduate advisor in the MSc and PhD programs in Agricultural Sciences at UAM Xochimilco, where he currently mentors students at both levels.
