Dr. Francisco Antonio Martínez Hernández was born in Mexico City. He holds a Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Economics from the Faculty of Economics of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a Master's and Doctorate degrees in Economics from the New School for Social Research, New York, USA.
In Mexico he has been a professor at the Faculty of Economics of the UNAM, at the FES Acatlán (UNAM), at the Universidad Anáhuac, at the Universidad Panamericana and in the Master's program in Economic Development of the Center for Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE). In the United States he has been a professor at the New School for Social Research, at the City University of New York and at the State University of New York. Working in the latter for 5 years. He is currently a full-time associate professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) in the Azcapotzalco Campus and is a member of CONAHCYT´s National System of Researchers (SNI) with Level 1.
His research topics are structuralist macroeconomics, the Mexican economy, the determinants of real exchange rates, economic development, monetary theory and the energy sector.
