Holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Latvia (Riga, Latvia) and PhD in Social Anthropology from the National School of Anthropology and History (Mexico City).

Has carried out postdoctoral research at: Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Sciences and Humanities of the National Autonomous University of Mexico with research projects “Racism and the representation of phenotypic imaginaries in Mexican advertising at the beginning of the 21st century” and “Strategies and body practices among actors and models experiencing colorism in advertising in Mexico”; Iberoamerican University with a research project “The perception of racism and colorist classism in advertising in Mexico”; National Pedagogical University-Ajusco with research project “The perception and experiences of racism among undergraduate students at the National Pedagogical University-Ajusco”.

Member of the “College of Ethnologists and Social Anthropologists” (Mexico) and belongs to the 1st Level in the National System of Researchers (Mexico), in the Area of Social Sciences.

Conducts research in the areas of sociology and socioanthropology on: cultural consumption, identities, youth, ethnicity, mass media, social perception, racism and discrimination. As research products, counts with more than 20 articles published in indexed scientific journals in Mexico and other countries (United Kingdom, Colombia, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, among others), more than 10 chapters in academic books, and with 2 academic books published.
