Profile

Dr. Eric Alonso Abarca Castro holds a Ph.D. in Human Development Studies from the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM). He is a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and Mental Health from Fidélitas University, Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a university degree in Philosophy from the Catholic University of Costa Rica. His academic journey includes a Diploma in Neuropsychology from the Center for Studies in Neuroscience and Psychology in the State of Chiapas, and a specialized program on sexual offenders against children and adolescents from the Pontifical University of Mexico.

He conducted his doctoral researchstay with the Research Group on Child and Adolescent Victimization (GReVIA) at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Barcelona, Spain. His research contributions are evident in publications in national and international journals: the Journal of Psychology Iztacala UNAM, the Journal of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences of U.A.C.J.S, Clinical Hypertension, Frontiers in Psychology, Frontiers in Immunology, Entropy, Sensors, and more. Since 2023, he has been a distinguished member of Mexico's National Researchers System (SNI).

In his teaching experience, Dr. Abarca has shared his knowledge at the Catholic University of Costa Rica and Fidélitas University, where he also served as the coordinator of the Master's program in Clinical Psychology and Mental Health. In the realm of research, he has collaborated with the Center for Multidisciplinary Research in Education (CIME-UAEM), the National Institute of Psychiatry Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz, and the Faculty of Medicine at UAEM.

Currently, Dr. Abarca serves as a visiting professor in the Division of Biological and Health Sciences, contributing to the Biomedical Psychology program at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Lerma Campus. His active involvement in ongoing projects revolves around research lines focusing on sexual victimization, mental health, academic stress, neurodevelopment, human development, quality of life, and psychophysiology.
