Profile
Dr. César Simón López Monsalvo is a physicist who graduated from the Faculty of Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He continued his academic training at Imperial College London, where he obtained a master's degree in Quantum Fields and Fundamental Forces. Subsequently, he completed his PhD at the School of Mathematics, University of Southampton, United Kingdom. In 2012, he received the prestigious Institute of Physics award for the best doctoral thesis in gravitation for his research on heat conduction in general relativity.
After obtaining his PhD, Dr. López Monsalvo undertook two postdoctoral fellowships at the Institute of Nuclear Sciences at UNAM, focusing on the application of differential geometry and mathematical physics to thermodynamics. In 2015, he joined the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Azcapotzalco Campus, as a Conacyt Chair in the Department of Energy. Since 2022, he has been a full-time professor-researcher in the Department of Basic Sciences at the same institution.
His current research focuses on the application of differential geometry to superconductivity, materials physics, and control. Additionally, he has extensive experience in the communication and dissemination of science and culture, both within and outside the university, through the Laboratory of Applied Physics to Existence.
