Profile

Bachelor’s in civil Engineer from the National Polytechnic Institute. M.Sc. in 2009 and PhD in 2013 from the National Autonomous University of Mexico graduated with honors on both occasions.

Throughout his academic career, he has received diverse awards and recognitions, which are: "National Academic Award" by the Mexican Federation of Sanitary Engineering and Environmental Sciences, AC (FEMISCA) in 2006, "Recognition of the Academic Excellence ”by the National Association of Engineering Faculties and Schools (ANFEI) in 2007, “Award for Academic Excellence ” by the College of Civil Engineers of Mexico (CICM) in 2008, “Award for the best PhD thesis” by the Institute of Engineering of the UNAM (II-UNAM) in 2015, the “Prize for the best PhD thesis on Seismic Engineering topics” by the Mexican Society of Seismic Engineering (SMIS) in 2015, the award for the best technical paper 2019 “José A. Cuevas” by the College of Civil Engineers of Mexico (CICM), Thesis advisor of the winner of the Twelfth National Master's Thesis Competition on Structural Engineering of the Mexican Society of Structural Engineering (SMIE) in 2024, the award for the best technical paper 2024 “Miguel A. Urquijo” by the College of Civil Engineers of Mexico (CICM) and the recognition as “Excellent Reviewer” in the journal Advances in Bridge Engineering in 2026.

It has 33 journal papers, 69 national and international conferences, 1 book chapter, advisor of 6 bachelor students, 41 graduate students of M.Sc. and 4 PhD graduate students.

He is a reviewer in 34 different JCR journals from 2015 to date. His research focuses on structural reliability over time, multi-objective optimization and the use of artificial intelligence methods for the prediction of design and reliability of earthquake-resistant structures. He has been a member of the National System of Researchers since 2015.
