Profile

Dr. Dante Tolentino López studied Civil Engineering at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN). He earned his Master of Science degree in 2009 and his Doctorate in 2013 from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), graduating with honors on both occasions.

Throughout his academic career, he has received several awards and recognitions, including the "National Academic Award" presented by the Mexican Federation of Sanitary Engineering and Environmental Sciences, A.C. (FEMISCA) in 2006, the "Academic Excellence Award" from the National Association of Faculties and Schools of Engineering (ANFEI) in 2007, the “Academic Excellence Award” from the Mexican Society of Civil Engineers (CICM) in 2008, the “Best Doctoral Thesis Award” from the Institute of Engineering at UNAM (II-UNAM) in 2015, the “Best Doctoral Thesis Award in Seismic Engineering” from the Mexican Society of Seismic Engineering (SMIS) in 2015, and the “José A. Cuevas” Award for Best Technical Article from the Mexican Society of Civil Engineers (CICM) in 2019.

The professor has published 30 journal articles, participated in 54 national and international conferences, authored one book chapter, and supervised 5 undergraduate students, 37 master’s students, and 2 doctoral students. He has served as a reviewer for 28 journals since 2015. His research focuses on structural reliability over time, multi-objective optimization, and the use of artificial intelligence methods to predict the design and reliability of earthquake-resistant structures. He has been a member of the National System of Researchers since 2015.
