Profile

Civil Engineer by the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), best grade point average in 2007. Master’s in engineering in 2009 and Doctor in Engineering in 2013 from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) graduated with honors on both occasions.

Throughout his academic career, he has received several awards and recognitions, among which are: the "National Academic Award" by the Mexican Federation of Sanitary Engineering and Environmental Sciences, A. C (FEMISCA) in 2006, the "Recognition for Academic Excellence" by the National Association of Faculties and Schools of Engineering (ANFEI) in 2007, the "Award for Academic Excellence" by the College of Civil Engineers of Mexico (CICM) in 2008, the "Award to the best Ph.D. thesis" by the Institute of Engineering of the UNAM (II-UNAM) in 2015, the "Award to the best Ph.D. thesis in Earthquake Engineering topics" by the Mexican Society of Earthquake Engineering (SMIS) in 2015 and the award to the best technical article "José A. Cuevas" by the Colegio de Ingenieros Civiles de México (CICM) in 2019.

He has more than 23 publications in indexed journals, more than 40 in national and international congresses, 1 book chapter, 2 bachelor theses, more than 30 master theses, and 2 Ph.D. thesis concluded. He has been a reviewer in more than 17 journals belonging to JCR from 2015 to date. His lines of research are structural reliability over time, multi-objective optimization, and use of artificial intelligence methods for design prediction and reliability of earthquake-resistant structures.
