Profile
Dr. Víctor Sánchez Vázquez is a Chemical Engineer, graduated from UAM, Iztapalapa Campus, where he completed his Master's and Doctorate studies in Biotechnology. Currently, he is a Research Professor in the Chemical Engineering Area, at the Department of Process Engineering and Hydraulics.
His teaching and research career has focused on the application of Bioengineering, integrating the fundamentals of transport phenomena, thermodynamics, and kinetics of bioreactions in the design of biological reactors. The research lines he develops are focused on the design of bioprocesses and environmental biotechnology, combining electrochemical and microbiological methods to stimulate microbial metabolic activity and thereby produce value-added compounds from the degradation of waste and/or recalcitrant compounds, aligning with the principles of Sustainable Development.
He is a member of the National System of Researchers. He has published various works in high-impact, indexed scientific journals, in which he has also participated as a reviewer. He has presented various works at specialized national and international events and has also actively participated in scientific communication events aimed at non-specialized audiences.
In addition to academic activities, his professional interests focus on forming work groups and interdisciplinary projects, generating collaborations from different sectors, including the academic, productive, and governmental. This has allowed him to collaborate with institutions at the UAM inter-unit level, as well as with entities within and outside the country, such as the University of Oriente (Cuba) and companies like PEMEX-Refinación (Mexico), Aqua Soluciones (Mexico), Everblue (Italy), and Toray Water (Japan).
