Dr. Ricardo Jimeno Espadas holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the Technological Institute of Cancun; and obtained a Master's degree in Tourist Marketing from La Salle University Cancun. He pursued his doctoral studies at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Unit Iztapalapa, earning a degree in Organizational Studies; and in Administration from EAFIT University in Medellin, Colombia.
During these studies, he developed an interest in incorporating perspectives rooted in Social Constructionism and Critical Theory to conduct research in the fields of tourism, administration, and organizational studies. He has been recognized by the Government of the State of Quintana Roo in conjunction with the Quintanarroense Council of Science and Technology for conducting research on the Tourist Potential of Nuevo Xcan, Municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas Quintana Roo. Later, he was awarded the ICETEX scholarship for Countries of the Caribbean Basin to pursue doctoral studies. Currently, he is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI) of Mexico; the Research Network on Organizational Studies in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Ibero-America (REOALCEI); and the Mexican Network of Researchers in Organizational Studies (REMINEO).
During his professional practice, he collaborated with Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma in the Marketing department for the operation and logistics of marketing, events, and promotions in the state of Quintana Roo. He also served as the administrative director of the State Center for Evaluation and Trust Control in Cancun, an organization dependent on the Secretary of Government of the State of Quintana Roo.
He has also worked as a Professor-Researcher at the University of the Caribbean in the Department of Tourism, Gastronomy, and Hospitality; and in the now-defunct Division of Economic and Administrative Sciences at the University of Quintana Roo.
Currently, he works as a professor-researcher in the Department of Economic Production at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Unit Xochimilco.
