Felipe Hernández Trejo is a full-time associate professor at the Department of Research and Knowledge of the Division of Sciences and Arts for Design at the Azcapotzalco Campus of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM).

He has a degree in Architecture and also has advanced studies in Economics; in addition, he holds a master's degree in Design and Urban Studies from the UAM. He obtained the University Merit Medal and Academic Mention, awarded in 2018 by the UAM, as well as first place in the Latin American Luis Unikel Spector Prize in Urban and Environmental Studies 2019, awarded by El Colegio de México.

He has conducted research stays at the Gino Germani Institute of the University of Buenos Aires and at the Department of Geography of the Alberto Hurtado University in Santiago, Chile. He is member of the Latin American Network of Researchers on Urban Theory (RELATEUR) and member of the Permanent Seminar on Economic Development and Land Use in Cities (DEUSC), belonging to the Institute of Geography of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

He is responsible for the research project “Investment of real estate-financial capital in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico”, selected by the General Rectory of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, through the Directorate of Research Support (DAI), in the framework of the Research Projects for New Academic Staff.
