Professor Victor Hugo Aquino Illescas studied a degree in Human Geography at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM); specialist and master in Geomatics at the Centro de Investigación en Geografía y Geomática, "Ing. Jorge L. Tamayo", A.C. of Conacyt; and is a candidate for a Ph.D. in Geography at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

He has worked on urban development projects and plans at the Institute of Geography of the UNAM, and his lines of research focus on land use changes in environmentally protected areas, urban metamorphosis in areas by reconversion and on the urban impacts and social effects derived from the staging of real estate mega-projects.

He is currently Associate Professor at UAM Iztapalapa Campus, Mexico City. He teaches courses on Cartography, Geographic Information Systems, and other courses on maps. Lives in Texcoco, State of Mexico.
