Dr. Víctor Hugo Aquino Illescas holds a Ph.D. in Geography from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), a Master’s degree and a Postgraduate Specialization in Geomatics from the Centro de Investigación en Geografía y Geomática "Ing. Jorge L. Tamayo" A.C. (Centro-Geo, now Centro de Investigación en Ciencias de Información Geoespacial), and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Geography from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Iztapalapa.

He serves as an Associate Faculty Researcher (Asociado B) at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Iztapalapa. He has completed specialized professional development programs, including the Diploma in Innovation of Teaching Practice Integrating Generative AI (UAM Iztapalapa, 2026) and the Advanced Diploma in Urban Studies from the Centro de Estudios sobre la Ciudad at the Universidad Autónoma de la Ciudad de México (UACM, 2009).

His research focuses on urban geography and geomatics, with emphasis on urban expansion in environmental conservation areas, urban segregation and fragmentation, real estate and corporate office market analysis, and land-use change dynamics.
