Profile

Dr. Rigoberto Reyes Sánchez holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Iztapalapa Campus. He earned a Master’s degree in Latin American Studies from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and completed doctoral studies in the same program. As part of his graduate training, he conducted research stays at the University of Chile and at the National University of San Marcos in Peru.

He has taught at several higher education institutions, including the Autonomous University of Mexico City, the 17 Institute of Critical Studies, and the Center for Research and Gender Studies at UNAM.

He is a member of the “Advanced Studies of the Body” Seminar (ESCUE), based at CEIICH-UNAM, as well as the seminar “Dependency, Labor, and Ideology: Spaces in/of Transformation,” based at the Iztapalapa Campus of UAM. In addition, he has worked as an independent researcher and trainer with the Center for Labor Research and Trade Union Advisory (A.C.), focusing on labor rights and union organization, particularly with workers in the automotive and auto parts sectors.

His main research areas include art, social movements, and collective memory; bodies and violence; and gender studies and queer/cuir theory. He is currently developing the project Aesthetic-Political Subjectivities from Latin America: Memories, Bodies, and Performances (2026–2027).
