Profile

Dr. Martha Adriana Leyte Lugo is a Pharmaceutical and Biological Chemistry from the Chemistry Faculty at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. She obtained his master's and PhD degrees in Chemical Sciences from the same University in 2009 and 2013, respectively.

Her doctoral research focused on isolating secondary metabolites from endophytic fungal species. Subsequently, she completed two postdoctoral positions, the first in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of North Carolina – Greensboro and the second in the Biotechnology Unit of the Yucatán Scientific Research Center. The postdoctoral positions were with a focus on the isolation and identification of secondary metabolites from medicinal plants and the identification of phytotoxic metabolites from phytopathogenic fungi.

She has been the author and co-author of different scientific scientific papers and has participated in national and international conferences. She is currently a Researcher for México-CONAHCYT commissioned to the Biotechnology Laboratory of the Department of Biological Systems at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Xochimilco Campus.

Her research projects focus on identifying microorganisms with biological potential for their development as agrochemical products, such as biofertilizers and probiotics, that are more friendly to the environment, in addition to the isolation and characterization of bioactive compounds from microorganisms to discover new entities that allow the identification of molecules of pharmaceutical and agricultural interest.
