Dra. Sibyl Italia Pineda Salazar is Associate Professor in the Department of Economics of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Azcapotzalco Campus. Collaborator in the research area of ..Society and Capitalist Accumulation; specializes in topics of economic theory, specifically related to work, migration, and gender perspective. She is a candidate for the National System of Researchers and Investigators of the National Council of Humanities, Sciences, and Technologies (CONAHCYT) and recognized with the Desirable Profile of the Teacher Improvement Program (PROMEP).

She obtained a bachelor's degree in Economics and a specialization in International Trade at the Faculty of Economics of the Universidad Rafael Landívar in Guatemala and a master's degree and doctorate in Economic Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana in Mexico. She has developed fellowships at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Spain, Kingston University in the United Kingdom, the Levy Economics Institute in New York, and the Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLAC) in Chile.

She has collaborated in consultancies for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank, and the General Secretariat of Planning and Programming of the Presidency of Guatemala (SEGEPLAN) in Guatemala and participated in various national and international academic events and has multiple academic publications in her research area.
