Professor Angélica Irene Mandujano Sánchez completed her undergraduate studies as a Medical Surgeon at the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) from 1998-2004. She completed her undergraduate medical internship at the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria in Santa Cruz Tenerife, Spain, endorsed by the General Hospital of Mexico.
Specialty in Internal Medicine at the General Hospital Dr. Manuel Gea Gonzalez, period 2005-2009, with the thesis: Comparison of sliding treatment versus physiological treatment for the strict control of blood glucose levels in patients with Diabetes Mellitus type 2 hospitalized for acute illness. Specialty in Rheumatology, at the Instituto Nacional de Cardiología Ignacio Chávez, period 2009-2011, with the thesis: Degree of concordance between the indirect immunofluorescence pattern of antinuclear antibodies and anti-RNP, Sm, Ro/SSA, La/SSB and double-stranded anti-DNA antibodies. Chief resident of Rheumatology at said institution. Both endorsed by the UNAM.
Winner of the SIBIC award as best Rheumatology resident at the Ignacio Chávez Cardiology Institute and first place for best clinical case at the 2011 Rheumatology Residents Meeting with the work: Giant aneurysms of the pulmonary arteries and Behçet's disease, being winner of the Roche scholarship for the EULAR 2011 congress in London, England.
Lecturer of the degree in Medicine at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Xochimilco Campus in modules with contents related to morphophysiology I and II, Internal Medicine , Immunology and Rheumatology since November 2016 to date. Her lines of research are focused on the pathophysiology of autoimmune and degenerative rheumatologic diseases, as well as chronic degenerative diseases that cause a burden of morbidity and mortality with epidemiological impact and translational research.
She is interested in inter-institutional collaboration and mentoring of research projects with impact on public health and aspects of medical anthropology and ethnobotany, and in leading students in social service.
