Professor Arturo Abreu studied Industrial Chemical Engineering at the School of Chemical Engineering and Extractive Industries (ESIQIE) of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) in 1999. Subsequently, he entered the Ph.D. program at the Department of Chemistry of the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the IPN (CINVESTAV) in 2000 and graduated as a Doctor in Chemical Sciences in 2006. In the same year, he began his career as a researcher and teacher at the Polytechnic University of Pachuca as a Research Professor in the Department of Biotechnology until 2016. In 2015 he made a research stay in the Department of Natural Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), Cuajimalpa Campus, and in 2016 he joined the same department as a Career Associate Professor.

During his scientific career, he has participated in the training of human resources at the undergraduate and graduate level; he has published scientific and popular articles and attended national congresses in the areas of chemistry and biotechnology.

As for teaching at UAM, he has taught the UEAs of integral calculus, equilibrium and chemical kinetics, introductory laboratory to experimentation, chemistry, chemistry II, chemistry III, nanoscience, and molecular characterization techniques I.

He is level I in the National System of Researchers until December 2022. He is currently a full representative of the DCN faculty in the Divisional Council.
