Professor Julieta Martínez Cuero holds a Ph.D. in Social Studies with a focus on Social Economy from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Iztapalapa Campus. She specializes in Social Development through the Unique Development Program at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM).

She has completed two postdoctoral stays, one at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the other at the Institute of Economic Research at UNAM. Her specialization lies in studies on poverty in Mexico, focusing on rural areas with low levels of human development and high degrees of social deprivation.

In the public sphere, she has served as an external evaluator for the National Council for the Evaluation of Social Development Policy (CONEVAL) and worked in the research department of the Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development (SEDATU). She is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI) at Level 1. Socially, she has participated in various popular education projects.
