Professor Francisco J. Reyes Zarate holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics with a Master's and a Ph.D. in Engineering in the field of Operations Research (specializing in Financial Engineering). He has diplomas in Stochastic Simulation in Finance, Applied Statistics; Stock Market and Financial Analysis and Evaluation; and Microeconomics, all of his studies were completed at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

Currently, Professor Reyes Zarate is a Professor at the Division of Sciences and Humanities of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus, in the Department of Management. He is a Conacyt Researcher Candidate (SNI) as of 2018.

At UAM, he has taught the subjects in the career of Administration such as: Statistics Applied to Management, Quantitative Methods Applied to Management, and Macroeconomics. At UNAM he has taught at the graduate level in the Faculties of Engineering and Economics, as well as at the undergraduate level in the Faculty of Economics and FES Acatlan in subjects such as: Financial Risk Management, Stock Market Finance, Financial Management, Statistics, International Finance, Econometrics, Time Series, Investment Portfolio Analysis, Multivariate Statistical Analysis, and Macroeconomics, among others. At Universidad Latinoamericana, he has taught in the Master's Degree in Management and in the Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering.

Professor Reyes has also participated in several Academic Committees, Examining Committees and has been part of juries for professional exams and has provided counseling for students of the terminal core. He has also participated as a speaker, among other institutions, at the Graduate School of Engineering, the Faculty of Economics of UNAM, El Colegio de México, ITESM, Universidad Panamericana and Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México. Abroad he has participated as a speaker at the Centro de Estudios Superiores de Administración (CESA), Bogotá, Colombia and the Escuela de Ingeniería Comercial de la Universidad de Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, Chile.

He has published articles in journals such as Economía Informa, published by the Faculty of Economics of UNAM; Revista Mexicana de Economía y Finanzas, published by IMEF; and Estocástica: Finanzas y Riesgo, published by Unidad Azcapotzalco.

His main academic interests and/or lines of research include: financial risk management; financial econometrics and time series; regional investment portfolio theory; economic and financial engineering; descriptive and inferential statistics; multivariate statistical analysis; as well as monetary and financial theory.
