Profile

Professor Sergio Tonatihu Funes Fonseca is a multidisciplinary professional who has distinguished himself through his contributions in design, architecture, ergonomics, and the reuse of built heritage.

With dual degrees in Industrial Design and Architecture from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Xochimilco Campus, along with a solid professional background, he has tackled various challenges within these disciplines. His interest in industrial ergonomics has led him to enhance working conditions in different companies, implementing solutions that increase safety and efficiency in high-industrial production environments.

His career spans from designing and supervising furniture manufacturing to collaborating on significant museographic projects like the Museum of Metals in Torreón, Coahuila. He has also made a mark in higher education by teaching at the UAM and leading significant changes in industrial design workshops as head, thereby improving students' learning experiences.

As a master's student in the Reuse of Built Heritage, he has explored the reuse of constructed heritage, focusing on the iconic Opera Cinema in Mexico City. This project reflects his commitment to preserving cultural heritage and his ability to merge history, architecture, and industrial design into a cohesive narrative.

Additionally, he has contributed to the development of anthropometric tables and ergonomic measurement equipment, seeking to disseminate and apply this knowledge for the benefit of the academic and professional community. His extensive experience and understanding of regulations related to workplace hygiene and safety enable him to propose innovative solutions from a comprehensive design perspective.
