Professor María Norma Duran Rodríguez Arana holds a Ph.D. in History from the Universidad Iberoamericana with the thesis "Ascesis, guilt and subjectivity. A study of the life of F. Sebastián de Aparicio, written by F. Juan de Torquemada".
She is attached to the area of History and Culture of the Department of Humanities of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities, of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus.

Among her lines of research are the following: Religious history of the Middle Ages; Historiography of hagiographic discourses; Novohispanic Chronicles of the XVI and XVII centuries; and Evangelization processes in New Spain, XVI and XVII centuries.

Dr. Norma Durán has taught at the Universidad Iberoamericana and the Escuela Nacional de Antropología e Historia, among others. She also has an important trajectory as a translator from French and English into Spanish of authors such as François Hartog, Elisabetta Corsi, Frank Ankersmit, François Dosse, Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht, Silvia Sebastiani, Andrés G. Freijomil, Diana Napoli, Antonella Romano, Bruna Filippi, Ralph Dekoninck.
