Dr. Huerta Peruyero holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and another in Politics and Social Management from UAM’s Xochimilco Campus. He earned a Master’s in Latin American Studies with a focus on State and Society: Institutions, Processes, and Social Movements in Latin America from UNAM, and a Master’s in Human Rights from the National Human Rights Center (CNDH) and the University of Tlaxcala. He also holds a PhD in Law with a specialization in Human Rights from Institute for Legal Research at UNAM.

He has completed diploma courses on Human Trafficking, Security and Strategic Intelligence, and the Criminal Justice System and Oral Trials.

As a professor and researcher in the Research Area on Research Problems within the Department of Politics and Culture at the Xochimilco Campus, he previously served as Coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Politics and Social Management at the same campus. His research focuses on human security, public security, and human rights.

He has supervised around 20 final projects and theses. Between 2014 and 2022, he taught undergraduate courses on Mexican Public Administration, Constitutional Law, Theory and Research, Administrative Law, Human Rights, Sociology and Society, Knowledge and Society, and History.

His publications examine the Mexican criminal justice system, social mobilization, struggles for human rights, and other law-related topics from a critical perspective.

He has also presented numerous papers at national and international universities on a wide range of topics, mainly concerning human security, major constitutional reforms, and human rights.
