Profile
Doctor Jorge Ismael Castañeda Sánchez is a Professor and Member of the National System of Researchers (SNI), Level I, with PRODEP Profile.
His research interests are Innate skin response to infections, diagnosis of actinomycetes and their sensitivity to drugs, mechanisms of pathogenicity and virulence of M. tuberculosis, and Nocardia brasiliensis.
He is a member of the Mexican Society of Immunology, the Mexican Association of Infectology and Clinical Microbiology, the Mexican Association of Medical Mycology, and the European Network for the study of nontuberculous mycobacteria NTM-net. He is a professor of the QFB degree, tutor and member of the basic core of professors of the Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ex-Coordinator of the Doctorate in Biological and Health Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) in the Cuajimalpa, Lerma, Iztapalapa, and Xochimilco Campuses and tutor of the same program; he is also responsible for the academic body: Studies of virulence factors of bacteria and fungi and their participation in the host-parasite relationship.
Professor Castañeda has collaborations with the Research Unit of the Instituto de Oftalmología Conde de Valencia, with the Instituto Politécnico Nacional, IPN (Escuela Nacional de Ciencias Biológicas), and with the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, UNAM (Facultad de Medicina and Instituto de Biotecnología).
