Dr. José Alberto Ramírez Torrez is a biologist, from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana - Xochimilco Campus; Master of Science in Aquaculture from the Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior de Ensenada, and PhD in Biological and Health Sciences from the Xochimilco Campus of UAM.

His general interest is focused on aquatic systems from the point of view of ecology, as well as the rational use of them for aquaculture, such as the production of aquatic species, mainly fish, their ecology, cellular and molecular biology, physiology, reproduction, and pathology. He has participated in research in these areas from an integrative stance, considering the current needs of the sector, which must be solved based on sustainable development, considering that it offers a wide range of opportunities to improve the quality of life of society.
