Profile

Dr. Fabiola Sagrario Sosa Rodríguez is Head of the Research Area in Economic Growth and the Environment, Azcapotzalco Campus of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Department of Economics. Post-doctorate in Climate Change and Water Management, University of Waterloo, Canada, with research Assessment of impacts and adaptation strategies of key actors; Mitigation and adaptation strategies to face climate change in Mexico and the Basin of Mexico; Best practices of social and environmental relations in the metallic mining industry. Post-doctorate in Climate Change and Water, University of Waterloo, Canada. Doctorate in Urban and Environmental Studies and Master's in Urban Studies at El Colegio de México, researching "Efficiency in water supply and disposal of wastewater in the DF: risk assessment model" and "The factors that determine the water consumption patterns. Degree in Economics at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Studies (ITESM); she obtained the highest academic averages in said programs and being honorable mention of excellence.

Winner of the Scholarship for Women in Science of the Mexican Academy of Sciences to carry out the research "The challenges of water management in Mexico City in the face of climate change: evaluation of impacts, vulnerability and policy decisions." Women in Science Award from the Mexican Academy of Sciences. The Mexican Academy of Sciences Award for the best doctoral research thesis in social sciences is won. Winner of the Gustavo Cabrera Acevedo award for one of the best theses in urban studies at the national level.

Research stays at UNU-INWEH (Canada), UNU-EHS (Germany), EMI (Mexico), and UCV-INHRR (Venezuela). Former member of the Multi-Stakeholder Group of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative. Reviewer and contributing author to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Member of the Mexican Delegation for negotiations on climate change at the Conference of the Parties (COP). Member of the Mexican National System Research (SNI). PRODEP profile by the Ministry of Public Education (SEP). Member of the RID-OLAS of the IDB. Member of the World Council of Social Sciences of UNESCO, the Multi-stakeholder Coalition of Women for Water of UNESCO and WWAP

Author of various refereed articles, chapters, and books focused on climate change, water, energy, and mining. Responsible for the working group for the Rescue of La Piedad Lagoon. Advanced management of climate change scenarios based on the results of the GCM and RCM models. Knowledge of the impacts of climatic variations on the water cycle and the provision of public water and drainage services. Deep expertise in designing and implementing water management and governance indicators, sustainability, vulnerability, and risk. A transdisciplinary approach based on the theory of complex systems for solving problems that concern socio-environmental systems.
